MAGNETIC FIELDS BASICS

Absence of fields
I
met with Professor Baranov, Medical Director of the Russian
Space Program in Germany a few years ago. It is a priority for
their program to look at deep space research, for a possible
Mars mission. This mission would require humans to spend years
in space. There is great concern about the effects of a lack of
gravity for extended periods of space travel but there is also a
concern about the lack of appropriate MFs for this trip as well.
These space travelers would be outside the Earth's MF for
extended periods, probably years. The Russians have set up a
research facility to study this issue of "magnetic
deficiency" and develop practical solutions.

There is a
substantive body of research in animals on extended exposures to
environments without MFs or with limited MFs. Why is this of
relevance to human use of EMFs for therapy? Since all life on
the Earth is conditioned from conception to death in the Earth's MFs, what exactly are our dependencies on it? How would life be
without it? What are the implications for the development of
human pathologies, aging and death? Is disease largely a loss of
internal MFs, the old idea of "use it or lose it"? Can
MFs help to improve the body's energetic processes and slow
aging and reverse or slow diseases? If almost all life processes
depend on electromagnetochemical events or processes for their
function, what is the role of externally applied MFs in
restoring or maintaining those processes?
Some examples of the effects of
very low or zero strength MFs are:
- Enzyme activity in macrophages from mice decreases by at least
31%.
- Much higher rates of physical defects in developing newts.
- Muscle fiber energy production is decreased by a minimum of
35%.
The Russian Space Program has
already found physical changes in animals and humans due to the
absence of the Earth's MFs. I hope we can learn much of great
value from them and others to help those of us who will never go
on a Mars mission, just an "Earth mission." How many
of life's diseases are local or systemic magnetic deficiency or
excess problems? If these were so, magnetic therapies could be
appropriately designed to alleviate them.
